In order for us to distribute a cover song (i.e. A song you didn't write) you must purchase a license from the owner or administrator of the song in order to use it on your album.
To distribute in the U.S., you can obtain a cover license from one of the following recommended partners below:
To distribute outside the U.S., you should obtain a license by contacting a performance rights society in your respective country.
Please note that when you submit a cover or tribute recording, you must not mention the original recording artist anywhere in your release or else it will not be published by any music service.
The cover should always be your own recording. Recordings from another source (karaoke backing tracks, other people's covers from YouTube, etc.), are not accepted. It cannot include any audio from the original song or another artist's cover recording.
Soundalike Covers
A soundalike cover is a song that sounds extremely similar to the original. Stores consider this content misleading and will hide these releases so customers will not purchase them by mistake. iTunes, Amazon Music, and Napster do not accept soundalike cover songs, a stance that is increasingly adopted by other stores as well.
If you plan to release a cover song, kindly submit your cover license to our support team prior to distributing your music.
